Motorentals Vagianelis makes it easy to experience Greece’s unforgettable landscapes and heritage at your own pace. Planning a multi‑day ride from abroad can be daunting – road conditions vary widely, accommodation quality differs by region and finding the most scenic routes requires local insight. Our self‑guided tours are designed for riders who want the freedom of independent travel while benefiting from our expertise. Each itinerary is based on routes our team rides regularly, lodgings we have personally tested and practical rider information that removes guesswork.
Why choose a self guided tour?
Our format blends independence with the reassurance of local knowledge. You follow a framework but make your own decisions on the road:
- Expertly planned routes – tours are built around road quality, scenery and flow rather than simply linking overnight stops. Expect mountain passes, coastal byways and hidden corners most visitors never see.
- Electronic route files – we provide GPX and other digital files containing our carefully curated routes and points of interest. These files can be loaded into smartphone navigation apps. A concise roadbook with fuel stops, dining options and regional background is included as a PDF. We do not supply GPS devices or printed maps.
- Pre‑booked accommodation – lodgings are predominantly up to 4‑star hotels or charming guesthouses selected for comfort, authenticity and reliability. You ride all day without worrying about lodging.
- Pre‑tour briefing – before you depart we review the itinerary, navigation and timing so you begin with confidence.
- Well‑maintained motorcycles – you ride the model you choose, fully equipped for multi‑day travel and insured for peace of mind. A refundable deposit equal to the insurance deductible is required for each motorcycle.
- 24/7 support – our team is on call for route adjustments or assistance. You travel independently but never feel isolated.
In addition, any of our self‑guided itineraries can be converted into a fully organized guided tour (with professional tour guide and support services) for groups of five riders or more. Requests must be made at least three months in advance.
Our self‑guided tour regions
To showcase the diversity of Greece we have selected eight routes – four in the south and four in the north. Each tour highlights unique landscapes and cultural sites. For every route we suggest the best months to ride within our April‑October season, indicate the difficulty (easy, intermediate or advanced), note whether the experience is more adventurous or luxurious, and describe whether the terrain is chiefly mountain, coastal or mixed. All itineraries can be combined or customised.
South Greece
Sparta – Monemvasia – Peloponnese
Discover one of the most exciting motorcycle routes in the Peloponnese, connecting the legendary city of Sparta with the enchanting walled city of Monemvasia. The route winds through olive groves, mountain passes, and stunning coastal roads, offering unique views at every kilometer.
Wander through the cobblestone alleys of Monemvasia, discover its Byzantine heritage, and enjoy the view of the Myrtoan Sea from the imposing cliff. The ideal time for this trip is from May through June and from September through October, when temperatures are perfect for riding.
With a moderate level of difficulty and enjoyable twists and turns, the route is designed for riders who want to combine the joy of riding, history, and authentic experiences while exploring one of the most beautiful corners of Greece.
Nafplio – Epidaurus – Mycenae
Experience a unique journey through the history of Greece on a route that combines coastal scenery, culture, and the joy of driving. Starting from charming Nafplio, you’ll explore the picturesque alleys of Greece’s first capital, with its Venetian castles, neoclassical buildings, and lively seaside atmosphere.
The journey continues to Epidaurus, where you’ll discover the world-famous ancient theater and the significant archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Mycenae, you’ll travel back in time as you explore one of the most significant civilizations of the Bronze Age.
Ideal for the months of April through early June and from September through October, the route offers easy to moderate riding and is suitable for riders of all experience levels. With quality accommodations, historical sites, and beautiful coastal routes, it is one of the most well-rounded motorcycle experiences in the Peloponnese.
Arcadia – Messenia
A journey to the authentic heart of the Peloponnese, where the mountainous landscapes of Arcadia meet the fertile plains and coastlines of Messenia. The route winds through stone-built villages, spectacular gorges, dense fir forests, and endless olive groves, revealing a Greece far removed from the ordinary.
You’ll drive along some of the country’s most enjoyable mountain roads, crossing the Lousios Gorge, traditional settlements, and enchanting natural landscapes, before ending up in the picturesque coastal villages of Messinia.
The ideal time for this route is from April through June and from September through October. The difficulty level is moderate, with plenty of curves and some challenging mountain sections that reward the rider with unique views.
Ride experience: Nature, adventure, and the authentic Peloponnese.
Terrain: Primarily mountainous, with gorges, forests, olive groves, and select coastal routes.
Kalavryta
A short but unforgettable drive takes you to the mountains surrounding Kalavryta, a small town known for the rack-and-pinion railway that crosses the Vouraikos Gorge and its historic monasteries. The high-altitude roads offer panoramic views and lead to a ski resort on Mount Chelmos, while the area remains quiet outside of winter. This route is best from June through September when the weather in the mountains is favorable. The difficulty is moderate to advanced due to steep inclines and narrow passes. The route is adventurous and almost entirely mountainous.
North greece
Trikala – Meteora
Discover one of Greece’s most iconic motorcycle routes, which takes you from the Thessalian plain to the unique landscape of Meteora. Traveling along quiet country roads and lush green routes, you’ll arrive at a destination that seems to defy the laws of nature, with historic monasteries perched atop imposing cliffs.
Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers sights rarely found anywhere else in the world. The route combines comfortable driving, stunning landscapes, and countless scenic spots, ideal for stops and photos.
The best time to enjoy the trip is from April through June and from September through October. With an easy to moderate level of difficulty, it is suitable for most riders, while combining culture, natural beauty, and a leisurely ride. From the plains of Thessaly to the winding roads that hug the cliffs of Meteora, every kilometer is an experience worth having.
Delphi – Arachova – Galaxidi
Follow one of the most atmospheric routes in Central Greece, where history, the mountains, and the sea come together on a unique motorcycle journey. Starting from Delphi, the “navel of the earth” in ancient times, you’ll tour one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites, set against the backdrop of the imposing slopes of Mount Parnassus.
The route continues to cosmopolitan Arachova, known for its picturesque architecture, lively atmosphere, and authentic culinary experiences. From there, the road descends to the beautiful Galaxidi, a seaside destination with a maritime tradition, neoclassical mansions, and a laid-back pace by the sea.
Ideal for the months of May through June and from September through October, the route offers a moderate level of difficulty and enjoyable twists and turns that will satisfy any driving enthusiast. The combination of mountain roads on Mount Parnassus, breathtaking scenery, and coastal views of the Gulf of Corinth creates one of the most well-rounded motorcycle experiences in mainland Greece.
Ioannina – Zagorochoria
Discover one of Greece’s most spectacular motorcycle routes, which takes you from Lake Ioannina to the heart of Epirus and the enchanting Zagorochoria. Through mountain roads, dense forests, and traditional villages, you’ll experience a place where nature and history coexist in harmony.
The route passes by the region’s famous stone bridges, the picturesque villages of Zagori, and spots offering unique views of the Vikos Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world. Every turn reveals new sights and offers an authentic driving experience through one of the country’s most beautiful landscapes.
The ideal time for this trip is from June through September, when weather conditions are ideal and the Pindus Mountains are at their greenest. With moderate to challenging difficulty levels and enjoyable mountain routes, it’s the perfect choice for riders seeking authentic adventure, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable riding experiences.
Tzoumerka
Experience an authentic motorcycle adventure in the heart of the Pindus Mountains, exploring the majestic Tzoumerka, one of Greece’s most unexplored and breathtaking mountainous regions. The route winds through deep gorges, rushing rivers, stone bridges, and traditional villages that seem untouched by time.
As you climb to higher elevations, the landscape becomes increasingly spectacular, with waterfalls, dense forests, and peaks exceeding 2,000 meters creating a setting of unique natural beauty. The continuous curves and remote mountain roads offer one of the most thrilling driving experiences in Greece.
The ideal time to explore Tzoumerka is from June through September, when weather conditions are favorable for driving at high altitudes. With a higher degree of difficulty and a distinctly adventurous character, the route is designed for riders seeking authentic experiences, breathtaking mountain scenery, and the freedom that only a motorcycle trip can offer.
Prices per day per motorcycle and accommodation
The following rates apply to our self‑guided tours. Prices are per rider per day and include use of the motorcycle, nightly accommodation, breakfast, tour planning, taxes and full mixed insurance. A deposit (guarantee) is required for each motorcycle; this amount is equal to the insurance deductible and is refunded when the bike is returned undamaged.

- Entry or admission fees to archaeological sites, museums or other attractions.
- Lunch, dinner and snacks (our roadbook suggests great local options).
- Fuel and any road tolls.
- Personal expenses, travel insurance and optional activities.
- Airport transfers, van support, professional guide, photography or videography (these are available only on our organized guided tours).

Our self‑guided tours operate between April and October when weather conditions are most favourable. Due to high demand we require at least three months’ notice to secure accommodations and prepare your route. For peak seasons (May–June and September–October) we recommend booking even earlier. Contact us via our booking form or email to check availability, customise your itinerary, add extra services such as rider gear rental or luggage storage or to upgrade your self‑guided trip to an organised guided tour. A 24‑hour support line is available during your ride for route adjustments or assistance.
